Sufficient staffing is a key indicator of a nursing home’s quality and safety. Yet, chronic understaffing remains a widespread and ongoing issue across the country. While some nursing homes prioritize resident care by ensuring adequate numbers of well-trained staff, many others fall short—often due to a lack of accountability and the diversion of resources toward profits and administrative costs rather than direct care.
To empower the public with reliable information, LTCCC publishes quarterly data on staffing levels for every nursing home in the United States (in compliance with federal reporting requirements). These data reports are easily searchable by state, county, city, and facility name.
Visit the Nursing Home Staffing Resource Center for more information and resources.
Important Note:
Starting with 2024 Q3, the nurse staffing files include expected staffing for each nursing home, based on the specific care needs of the residents in the facility. CLICK HERE to learn more about this evidence-based methodology.
