This program explores how assisted living and home care providers can strengthen their approach to supporting individuals living with dementia through practical, person-centered strategies. Staff often encounter complex care situations and may feel uncertain about how to respond to changing communication, behaviors, and needs. The session highlights common challenges in dementia care and emphasizes the importance of understanding underlying needs, improving communication, and reducing avoidable crises. The program introduces LTCCC’s free Dementia Care in the Community Toolkit, a comprehensive set of resources designed specifically for frontline staff and supervisors. Participants learn how to incorporate these tools into staff training, daily care practices, and quality improvement efforts.
