LTCCC’s Comments on HUD’s Proposed Equal Access to Housing Rule

June 25, 2026 – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently issued a proposed rule, Equal Access to Housing in HUD Programs Revisions, that would make significant changes to the agency’s Equal Access regulations, including removing explicit protections related to gender identity and sexual orientation in HUD-funded housing and shelter programs.

LTCCC is very concerned about the potential negative impact this rule would have on vulnerable individuals, including older adults and people with disabilities seeking safe community-based housing. Together with over 20 local and national organizations, LTCCC submitted comments urging HUD to withdraw the proposal.
