Everyone living with dementia – no matter where they live – deserves to receive care and services that meet professional standards of care. Unfortunately, due to the lack of awareness of professional standards and absence of government standards (outside of the nursing home world), too many people living with dementia in assisted living or their private home (referred to HCBS, Home and Community-Based Services) receive poor or inappropriate dementia care and services. LTCCC’s Dementia Care in the Community initiative is aimed at overcoming these challenges by providing user-friendly, practical resources for individuals with dementia, their families, and their professional caregivers .
