This document provides a summary of the CASE Methodology for Calculating Expected Nurse Staffing:  Recommended nursing home staffing levels based on their case mix index.

The CASE (Casemix Adjusted Staffing Expectations) methodology is an evidence-based, peer-reviewed methodology for identifying the expected nurse staffing levels necessary to meet the clinical needs of a nursing home’s residents.
