This series of assisted living fact sheets focuses on a variety of issues relevant to resident care, quality of life, and/or safety. The fact sheets are tailored to be useful to a range of stakeholders, from residents and families to facility operators to policymakers.
Each fact sheet includes a brief background on the topic, relevant recommendations, a map outlining state policies on the issue, and recommendations for further reading. The fact sheets are based on the findings in our 2018 report, Assisted Living: Promising Policies and Practices, which provides a comprehensive review of state policies, recommendations, and example language for use in future policy making. The state policy maps are derived from the State Requirements Chart, which compares the states by their regulation policies.
