On July 30, 2025, the U.S. Senate Special Committee on Aging held a hearing to examine the ongoing crisis of elder abuse and neglect. In response, the Long Term Care Community Coalition (LTCCC) submitted written testimony for the official hearing record.
Our testimony highlights the urgent need for stronger protections, meaningful enforcement, and adequate funding for programs like the Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program and the Elder Justice Act. It also calls on federal policymakers to hold nursing home owners and operators accountable when they fail to meet basic standards of care.
